Carmen Pong

Carmen has been a member of PHPSA since Fall 2012 and is currently a 3rd year with a major in Microbiology. She hopes to pursue a career as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in order to assist in the diagnostic process. As a first generation college student, she understands the struggles of being the first in your family to go to college. She hopes to encourage others to pursue a career in healthcare despite coming from a disadvantaged background.

She volunteers at the Women’s Health Resource Center at CPMC, where she provides administrative support. She often prepares charts for massage clients, calls and reminds clients about their massage appointments, and updates clients’ contact information. She has also researched recent women’s health studies that were included in the Center’s newsletter.

She is also a part of the Conversation Partner Program. She communicates with a student studying abroad here at SFSU in order to promote partnerships with international students and provide social support to students interested in gaining language training to successfully study in the United States.

She is an avid K-pop fan and often watches Korean dramas and variety shows. She also enjoys eating good food, drinking milk tea with friends, and occasionally jogs for exercise.
